The Top 10 Percent Scholarship

The Top 10 Percent Scholarship, a new state financial aid program, is available for high school students graduating this spring.  The scholarship was created and funded through the Higher Education Performance Incentive Initiative, HB 1, 80th Texas Legislature, Section 55 (III-58).

The scholarship is intended to encourage financially needy high school graduates in the top 10 percent of their class to attend a Texas public institution of higher education.  Each qualifying student is eligible to receive $2,000 if they enroll fulltime in a Texas public college or university for fall 2009 and show financial need. To apply, students must submit an error-free Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 1, 2009.

We encourage you to inform your constituents about the availability of these scholarship funds.
